The New York State Comptroller reports 8.9 million visitors there in 2025, more than any other state park in New York. The park is free to walk into and open 365 days a year.
The busy season follows the boats and the fireworks. In 2026 the Maid of the Mist sails from April 24 to November 8. Fireworks go off over the falls every night at 10 p.m. from May 15 to October 12. Old Falls Street, the cobblestone street that links the park and the convention center, holds free Friday night concerts in the summer. The park itself says the attractions have longer waits on weekends, and on holiday weekends most of all.
Winter is quieter. The falls are lit in color every evening of the year, but far fewer people walk the park on a winter day than on a summer day. Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, a 604-room hotel and casino close to the falls, is another draw that does not depend on the weather.
Getting here is easy. Buffalo Niagara International Airport is 26 miles away, about 30 to 45 minutes by car. Niagara Falls International Airport has Allegiant flights to Florida and Myrtle Beach.
